Public Action
We strongly believe that action (as opposed to awareness) is what moves positive social change forward. So we have designed our site to motivate you to act. Here’s a few simple things you can choose from:

Give

donate We donate $1 for every unique visitor to our site to a new charity each month1

Why?

Because we believe in giving back.
Because we believe small acts of good add up.
Because we believe actions speak louder than words

This month’s charity: You tell us! Send us a message (through the box on the right), and tell us a little bit about your favourite cause.

1Up to $500 per month. And more as we grow

The Power of 2

powerof2

We are big believers that simple, engaging, and incentive-driven bursts of activity (over a short period of time) are key ingredients to building an effective campaign. So, to see if we are right, we have created Move the Public campaigns.

Our inaugural campaign is called The Power of 2 and is dead simple. Choose between 2 worthy organizations, give $2 and encourage 2 friends to do the same, and see who comes out on top.

Interested? It’s coming soon…

Would you do this?

wouldyou Every month we feature a “good” campaign that is out in the world. We often ask ourselves when developing campaigns – “is this something you would do?” and if the answer is no (meaning the target for the campaign is not likely to do it), we inevitably kill the idea. Now is your chance. Tell us if you would take part in the featured campaign. It’s as easy as clicking “yes” or “no”

Featured campaign of the month: Wear White for Windfall

Windfall is a Toronto-based charity that acquires and gives out new clothing and other basic-needs items (shampoo, soap, blankets, pots and pans) to social service agencies to help alleviate poverty . They also work to raise awareness about poverty in Toronto.

The  Campaign:

The Wear White for Windfall (WW4W) campaign is pretty simple. On January 28th, wear white to raise awareness of poverty in Toronto, and donate $4 to Windfall to support the work that they do.

If you’re more interested, you can do a variety of white-related fundraisers– a white cupcake bake-sale, a white sock clothing drive, a white wine pot-luck, all with proceeds going to Windfall. If organizing fundraisers isn’t your thing, you can buy Snowflake and Arctic Shimmer powders or Beautiful Colours Finishing Touch make-up and have some or all of the proceeds donated to WW4W.

It’s that simple. Now the question:
